2002 USGS South Pole (Patch )

Embroidered cloth patch. This 3-1/2" patch shows the exact design as the 2002 USGS South Pole Mark. The Antarctic continent is shown behind this year's exisiting facilities. In the foreground is the orange skylab research building. The geodesic dome sits behind this. Both these buildings are scheduled for removal in FY04. The first phase of the new elevated station overshadows these buildings. The tall cylindrical structure is the stair and elevator access to the sub-snow-surface arches. The tan rectangular structure is the berthing, dining and mechanical facilities of the new station.

2003 USGS South Pole (Patch)

Fashioned after the actual South Pole USGS marker. The patch shows both the new elevated South Pole Research Station complete with sundogs, and the soon-to-be-dismantled geodesic dome research facility with aurora. We fill-stitched using a metallic thread to represent the actual brass marker. Patch measures 3-1/2" diameter

2004 USGS South Pole (Patch)

3-1/2" Diameter patch fashioned after the actual 2004 South Pole USGS marker. Shows the Antarctic Continent overlaying half night / day sky. Embroidered three color.

2005 South Pole Dome (Patch)

This colorful embroidered patch shows the geodesic dome facility of the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. This dome is scheduled for demolition and is being replaced with a modern elevated research facility. This will likely be the last patch of this style. Patch is 3-1/2" diameter. 2005 USGS Marker Design (Patch)

3.25" x 3.25" Square patch fashioned after the actual 2005 South Pole USGS marker. This colorful design represents the sun & moon which encircle the Pole. 90* S is the latitude of the South Pole.

The pin shows a white Antarctic continent with longitude lines set over a navy blue sea. South Pole is marked. Rear of pin has a pierce pin with butterfly (military) clasp. Outside text reads: - ANTARCTICA - - The Last Frontier -

McMurdo Label (Patch)

This finely embroidered oval patch has a 'classic' old style look to it. The patch shows the Antarctic continent, an emporer penguin with chick, a center banner "ANTARCTICA" with the text "McMurdo" above and "Station" below. 2-1/2" wide x 3-1/4" tall

McMurdo Station (Sticker)

McM is the abbreviation for McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Black lettering on white background. Actual size = 4” x 6-1/4” Sticks to most surfaces. Peel off back

Mount Erebus (Patch)

The three inch embroidered cloth patch shows Mount Erebus, Antarctica's only active volcano with Castle Rock in the foreground. The following text runs around the outside edge of the patch: "MOUNT EREBUS - ELEVATION 12448' - ROSS ISLAND - ANTARCTICA".

South Pole Dome 2002 (Patch)

This 3-1/2" patch shows the geodesic dome of the Amundsen-Scott South Pole research station (US). The dome is scheduled to be dismantled starting in 2003. This may be the last design with the dome in it. The new research facility currently being constructed is elevated.
